First Love

First love, elixir of passion, blends with blood flowing through my veins
The relentlessness of forever lives on in me
No words, nor distance, nor betrayal, demeaning thought nor hurtful deed
Can murder this pure love born in the time of youth
Years gone, I know not where the swiftness of their passage
Circle of time has found me facing toward a direction thus far
unknown to me
Loss of your presence haunts my heart, yet I welcome my companion pain
I open my arms welcoming this lord for in his eyes I see the truth
that the depths of love found in youth can never die
and in this mirror image I see proof of this
Now we journey side by side yet I will not forsake you
Within the torment, death of what has been, within that ache
I see the golden thread of glowing light that weaves patterns
upon the fabric of eternity
I bow and surrender to this unfolding and this letting go
And within this stream of golden light
I know that love of blended souls
Plays the rhythm of harmony inside my bones
Like a flash of light in the darkness
My heart comes like a beam across the bridge that joins our hearts
Immortality will not come to us for our deeds
But only for how we have given and received the gift of love
