The Waters of Life
I fling the darkness of my despair into the depths of
the ocean
I cut my ties to the past with my knife of freedom
A chasm in my mind has opened up
The waters of life can now course through me
In my vision I have become a mermaid
My raging river becalmed and serene
My pond as tranquil as the quiet mists of
eternity
I no longer allow the nameless face of suffering
to suck my soul from all the essence that is me
I give birth to a different world, cleansed of all evils
Where suffering will cease and healing wash over us
all like a gentle, sweeping tide
In my mermaid’s dream the jewels of light adorn
my tail
My hair floats in a dance of gentle waves
Echoes of my past now have no power
I gift myself to you for you know me
I am the part of you which you have hidden
Look at me, see your glory in each precious shell
For each one contains the treasure of a prayer
And unto you I offer all the blessings of my being.
